I’m Ayşe Müge Bakır, a London-based Turkish-British director, creative producer, actress and writer.
I build stories for screen, stage and the spaces in between.
My work sits where emotional truth meets crafted visuals. I’m drawn to the kind of stories that stay with you: women, outsiders, memory, transformation, and the quiet moments where a life changes direction.
I trained in cinema, television, script development and performance and I’ve spent my career moving fluidly between directing, producing, acting and writing. That blend of creativity and technical fluency is the backbone of how I work: intuitive, precise, collaborative and calm under pressure.
Alongside my film and theatre practice, I’ve also created sponsored TV programmes, children’s shows, music features and charity campaigns, blending editorial storytelling with the technical demands of broadcast. I’ve worked with young people, NGOs and broadcasters, crafting visual narratives that aim to inform, uplift and connect.

I’ve developed short films, TV shows, theatre pieces, immersive concepts and original IP; taught film and TV in the UK and Türkiye; and worked across production, broadcast and creative development. I care about process as much as the outcome , respectful teams, strong communication, and stories that have something real to say.

I’ve spent my life following them: behind the camera, in rehearsal rooms, in classrooms, on stage, and on the quiet pages where ideas first take shape.
I’m drawn to themes of women, outsiders, memory, healing and transformation; the places where human vulnerability becomes strength.
The light in the shadow, and the shadow in the light.
To me, storytelling is the pulse of existence:
emerging, breaking, learning, reforming… just like the rhythm of a pulsating heart.
What I love most about storytelling is that nothing ever stays the same. The characters, the stories, the places, the hearts and minds keep transforming. Where it starts is never where it ends, even if everything looks the same.
